Biography
As a banker for intermediated development financing, Yvonne provides loans to African financial institutions, which on-lend those funds to local entrepreneurs and small companies. Yvonne covers all stages of the deal cycle from business origination to portfolio monitoring, and interacts with clients from five African countries. Focussing on West Africa, she works towards sustainable and inclusive financial systems, strengthening competition and market effectiveness, and reaching under-served market segments.
Prior to that, Yvonne worked for the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in London. She managed an investment framework for loans to financial institutions dedicated to on-lending for resource efficiency and small-scale renewable energy investments. Responsibilities included the provision of product-related advice to EBRD’s bankers and clients, as well as reporting on business delivery to EBRD’s Board of Directors and external co-investors.
A year-long practical training on international affairs and development cooperation, provided by the German Academic Scholarship Foundation and German Federal Foreign Office, laid the foundation for Yvonne’s career start in international impact investing. Having studied in Germany, New Zealand, and Poland, she earned academic degrees in business administration, economics, and management with best-in class grades.
