After graduating from the École normale supérieure and having pursued a PHD in anthropology, Sasha worked for several years in West Africa at the intersections of culture, technology, and development. In 2009, Sasha joined UNESCO's Culture Sector to work on advancing ICTs in policies and programmes to preserve cultural heritage. In 2011, Sasha joined the Executive Office of the Communication and Information Sector, working with the Assistant Director General of UNESCO on the development of global strategies to support freedom of expression and access to information. In 2013, Sasha moved to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to act as the UNESCO liaison with the African Union and Economic Commission for Africa. In 2015, she moved to Dakar, Senegal, to act as Regional Advisor for Communication and Information, specifically promoting the use of new technology for development and counter terrorism in the Sahel. Sasha returned to Paris in the spring of 2018 to coordinate and develop UNESCO's work on digital transformation, internet governance, and artificial intelligence. Her diverse background, notably her training as a dancer and video artist, regularly informs her commitment to encouraging creativity, collaboration, collective intelligence, and innovation at the heart of the UN's work.
