Biography
Fran Claes heads up the real estate practice of the Belgian law firm Schoups having offices both in Brussels and in Antwerp. For almost 20 years, Fran focuses on transactional real estate and has been advising clients on transfers and structuring of real estate and real estate companies, establishment of rights in rem, leases, joint ventures, real estate financing and real estate litigation. She is recognised in the Legal 500 for being a “pragmatic" lawyer who is noted for her "focus on results" and her “fast response, both strategic and hands-on, with clear communication.”
As an experienced corporate real estate lawyer, Fran assists domestic and international market players, institutional and private investors, regulated real estate companies, real estate funds, and developers as well as clients from other sectors (including tourism, consumer goods, leisure, catering wholesale) holding a large real estate portfolio for their business, with the development of their portfolio's holding residential real estate, holiday parks, offices, logistics buildings, retail real estate, student housing, healthcare real estate and hotels. In addition, she also advises end users of real estate in connection with their property requirements on offices, warehouses and retail leases and sale & lease backs. Fran manages real estate transactions from the letter of intent to the post-closing steps and has strong capabilities in due diligence, contract drafting and negotiations.
Fran spent her carrier in several international law firm, where she co-led the international real estate service line.
