Biography
Lorenza Badiello is Director of the Emilia-Romagna Region in Brussels - she established and developed the Office, the first Italian regional representation by the EU. With a team of 10 experts, she coordinates the regional action of both the Regional Government and the plethora of socio-economic stakeholders by the EU.
She was previously Head of the Brussels office of ASTER (Emilia Romagna Technological Development Agency) and served TPN (Transatlantic Policy Network) also in Brussels. Prior to that she was in Bologna where she held a post as a researcher at NOMISMA and Assistant to the President of the Scientific Committee.
She has been adjunct Professor at Vesalius College/VUB and has been lecturing EU integration at a number of European Universities.
Lorenza has a MBA from Profingest (Italy) and MA in International Relations and Political Strategy from the University of Kent (UK); she holds post graduate diplomas from the Universitè Libre de Bruxelles (Belgium) and a degree in Political Sciences from the University of Bologna (Italy).
With over 20 years’ experience in European affairs, EU lobbying and EU programmes, Lorenza has published articles and contributed to books. Her research interests include EU integration, lobbying, regional development and innovation. She has also participated as a speaker/moderator in over 200 conferences and workshops.
Lorenza has been an OSCE election observer in the Balkans; she has been President of a Committee for a public competition held by the Region of Tuscany in Florence; she is a member of the Regional Studies Association; a member of the Policy working group of ERRIN in Brussels. Finally, she is a fellow of international networks including the German Marshall Fund and the Council for Italy/US Relations.
