New Book! Father-Daughter Succession in Family Business
A Cross-Cultural Perspective, by Daphne Halkias, Paul W. Thurman, Celina Smith and Robert S. Nason
Marina Niforos, Managing Director of the American Chamber of Commerce in France, WIL Board Member, was contributing author to book, Father–Daughter Succession in Family Business - A Cross-Cultural Perspective. Using case studies from different cultures and continents, Father–Daughter Succession in Family Business discusses the changes which have led to daughters increasingly gaining influence in family businesses. It looks at the tensions this succession can produce between old notions of how men and women should behave, and the new style of leadership that often comes about when a woman takes the helm.
Marina studied the case of large family business in Peru, still led by the father and founder, in the midst of a transition to the new generation with the youngest daughter rising to the forefront in the succession process, in contradiction with traditionally held stereotypes regarding gender, Latin American culture and first born advantages.
