The Science Factor aims at solving a paradox of our days – high unemployment among young people is registered in France and all across Europe, and yet innovative high-tech companies encounter problems with recruiting new candidates.
Under the auspices of the French Minister of Higher Education & Research and supported by Orange and Syntec, Science Factor is a contest aiming at inciting at least 1500 young people to opt for science education.
Teams of maximum 4 highschool pupils can subscribe until 31 January 2012 on the Facebook page of the contest (http://www.facebook.com/sciencefactor) in order to present the project of a research they’d be interested in doing.
One small tweak: the teamleader must be a girl!
The five finalist teams will be able to present their project to a jury presided by Claudie Haigneré, President of Universcience. The prize will consist in 2000EUR for the winning team hat can be spent on high-tech products and in 4 Passing Tickets for Universcience.
The Science Factor is a side-initiative of the media campaign Sensationnelles that promotes science education and careers for young women & girls by bringing together testimonies of women working in the field. In 2010, the campaing was joined by some of the WIL members (full article on WIL and Sensationelles).
